Wikipedia

Just a little post to say how much I love wikipedia.
Its great for those moments when you are just like "Oh my god, I recognise that actor/actress what were they in again?" It's sad but this happens to me a lot. And it's the most annoying thing ever. I HAVE to know where they're from.
It's also great for finding out about my future celebrity husband (I have a few- eg. Channing Tatum, Ryan Reynolds, Douglas Booth, most rugby players...), you find out all this great stuff like the age gap (VERY important), where they grew up, if they've got a girlfriend, just from one page!!
Yes this is making me out to be very shallow.
But it is also useful for essay writing. It knows EVERYTHING. I don't know a single one of my friends who doesn't use wikipedia at some point to find out what the hell they're actually meant to be writing about.
So yeah, wikipedia is great. End of.

Music.

Music is a big part of my life. Mainly just listening to it and discovering new bands. Yeah not one of those edgy people creating music myself on some crazy technology in my bedroom in the hope of one day getting it out to the masses. I'm a kind of indie/alternative kind of girl, with a dash of electronic (think Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, The XX etc.). I also love a good dance track and OCCASIONALLY a pop song. It is my life ambition to see Radiohead live. I NEED TO DO IT. Typical they will be playing the O2 in London in my freshers week at uni. But I will do it one day. Preferably when I find someone who loves them as much as I do, to come with me. Harder than it sounds when you mostly attract girls as your close friends and they just rattle on about the latest Rihanna song.
Anyway I basically listen to music 24/7. The minute I wake up I turn on the laptop open itunes and start listening. And it is in fact true that once I find a song I like I will listen to it A LOT (eg. Adele- Rolling in the Deep (Jamie XX Remix)- listened to 116 times in the space of a year).
I would go to more festivals to see my favourite bands, but quite frankly the "proper" festivals like Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury etc., are RIDICULOUSLY expensive and I hate camping. However the best gig I have been to in my short life was Arcade Fire- BLOODY AMAZING. The O2 arena was packed and I genuinely got goosebumps listening to them! Bands over pop artists any day!
So here I present to you (my second list)-
MY TOP TEN BANDS: (no specfic order)

  • Radiohead
  • Arcade Fire
  • Kasabian
  • Bombay Bicycle Club
  • The Naked and Famous
  • The Joy Formidable
  • Sleigh Bells
  • The Black Keys
  • Everything Everything
  • Two Door Cinema Club
Ok, that was really hard. Just so you know Oasis, Bloc Party, The Horrors and Muse were not far off. But I had to restrict myself to just the ten. SO SORRY.
So to summarise- I love music, and no I'm not starting a band. Or camping.

Song Of The Day

When people do things to annoy me.

So. I will start with a recent story in my life.
I HAD a friend (yup, not anymore) I stayed with her for a few days out in Australia while she was working out there. I shared a secret about myself, which I was kind of embarrassed about, but in my defence I was drunk when it happened. (Alcohol is bad, kids!) Anyway I later found out she had decided to tell a few mutual friends, who I'm not particularly close with. It was spreading around this group and I was not impressed. So, I may have sent her a very mean message over Facebook, highlighting her past endevours. She then proceeded to delete me as a friend.
Well, writing this here now, it is definitely coming across as petty and immature (from both sides). But I don't regret it. She never really treated me as a proper friend, and what she did was extremely hurtful, especially as she knew how embarrassed I felt about it!
If I know anything about myself its that when somebody pisses me off, I will certainly let them know! (Same goes for when I've decided I don't like them- which is certainly one of my worst traits, but lets be honest why waste your time hanging with people you don't get along with just to be nice??) Also arguing is one of my favourite things (when I think I'm right), so it's just a shame I couldn't hold off a week until my ex-friend came home to do it that way. The thing is if it had been face-to-face it probably would have turned out a little differently!
To conclude: if a friend isn't treating you right, cut them out of your life. You don't need them. If they spread one thing about you and get away with it, they will just think they can walk all over you and before you know it, something else about you will be churned out of the rumour mill. This year has certainly taught me which friends to make the effort for, and which ones you just see because they live nearby.
Actually that's a point too- in the last few weeks since my friends have come home from uni I've learnt which ones invite me to things just because I have a car. I've genuinely come across messages that say "Transport might be an issue..wonder if Kate is around?" WOW. True friends for life... NAWWWT. Needless to say I replied to that with "I would rather be invited as a friend rather than a taxi service, thanks." They don't even offer to pay for petrol by the way. HELLO?!! I'M A STUDENT! The cracks in friendships will definitely grow after school!

Hello!

So hi nobody! (Probably)
I just thought HEY I'm nearing the end of my gap year, why not start a blog? I've just got a lot of thoughts running around in my head and this seemed like a nice way to get them all out there. Undoubtedly I will probably forget I ever made this by tomorrow and never write it again but thought I would give it a shot! So here goes....
Basic summary of my life in 2012- I started the year with 4 months in AUSTRALIA. It was amazing and I had the best time OF MY LIFE. It sounds cheesey but I learnt a lot about myself too. I guess I'm not the shy  person with a distinct lack of social skills I thought I was! And it really taught me to live my life to the fullest.
So I present to you...
MY SUMMER BUCKETLIST 2012:

  • Get a tattoo- I have to do this one because it is so unlike me. It would remind me of my travels forever- whether I regret it or not. The parentals will MURDER ME for it. Oh well.
  • Go to Denmark- made a friend for life out in Oz and absolutely have to visit her.
  • Do something significant everyday- harder than it sounds. Especially where I live. But I guess significance can cover a lot of things so we will see on that one.
Okay. I've run out of ideas. But those are three biggies so I will give myself a pat on the back for effort.
Going back to my life. Currently working my butt off to pay back my travelling debts and get in a bit of cash for uni. Yep. Literally got no social life (FYI waitressing is about THE most antisocial profession out there). The only socialising I did this week was see the new Spiderman movie with a friend (it's awesome by the way). That's my life in a nutshell.
Anyway this was just a little intro post so I will get onto the more burning matters that I want to natter on about into the stratosphere some other time!
